Dr. Burns depression checklist (BDC) is a reliable mood-measuring device that detects the presence of depression and accurately rates its severity. The first version of inventory was published in the year 1984 with 15 questions. Later in 1986, it was revised and updated with 25 queries.
This checklist has a simple questionnaire that takes few minutes to complete. After filling out the checklist, the final score will help to evaluate the severity of depression.
“Right diagnosis is the first step to cure.”
Dr.Burns lays out some essential guidelines to determine whether one can safely and effectively treat mood disorders or not.
Interpretation of Burns Depression Checklist Result
As you can see, the higher the total score, the more severe your depression. In contrast, the lower the score, the better you are feeling.
According to research, BDC is highly accurate and reliable.
A person who has a score above ten may benefit from professional treatment.
Anyone with suicidal feelings should seek a consultation with a psychiatrist.
