Vaginal discharge is a viscous fluid secreted by the glands in the vagina & cervix, which is usually clear, odourless & milky white. This fluid exudes from the vagina to flush out the old dead cells & other waste materials to keep the reproductive tract clean and hygiene.
It is a normal process, so you don’t have to worry about it unless you get some other unusual symptoms to accompany vaginal discharge in the body.
Abnormal discharge comes with the abnormal colour, odour, amount, and consistency which clearly indicates an infection in the reproductive organ
This discharge will be thin, transparent and whitish with the consistency of egg white. One can notice this kind of discharge during the time of pregnancy, ovulation, and sexual arousal.
This temporary vaginal discharge is not associated with any sort of vaginal infections, and it indicates that your vagina is re-balancing itself by releasing this fluid. It doesn’t have any smell, and it is very normal.
A thick white discharge with no smell is healthy, and it comes out during the time of ovulation. A little cottage cheese coloured discharge with pungent odour indicates a yeast infection.
Yellow discharge with unpleasant odour denotes that a person has a bacterial or sexually transmitted infection.
One can notice brown vaginal discharge when having irregular periods (old endometrial blood). Also, it occurs at the time of menopause. In some cases, it may also be a sign of uterine or cervical cancer.
